Background to CSRD and ESRS E1
From this year onwards, the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) companies to report on their sustainability activities. The new ESRS reporting standards, lay determines which data companies must report.
The standards are set by the Climate standard ESRS E1 which revolves around the topic of CO₂ emissions. As a rule, recording the CO₂ balance sheet is an essential and often first step for many companies when it comes to CSRD. Further KPIs, measures, targets and strategies are then based on this in the subsequent process.
