Durch eine Laboranalyse wurde festgestellt, dass es sich beim greenes\u00b2 Espresso Roast um ein \u201eBio\u201c-Produkt aus \u00f6kologischer Landwirtschaft handelt. Da hierf\u00fcr Strom aus regenerativer Energieerzeugung genutzt wird, f\u00e4llt im Vergleich zu herk\u00f6mmlichem Strom-Mix nur ein Bruchteil der energiebedingten Emissionen an. Diese k\u00f6nnen bei der Zubereitung Zuhause mit herk\u00f6mmlichem Strom-Mix statt \u00d6kostrom bis zu 100 mal h\u00f6her ausfallen und damit den gr\u00f6\u00dften Teil der Emissionen des Produktes darstellen. Folglich kann der Zubereitende durch die Wahl seines Energiebezugs die Emissionsmenge einer Tasse Kaffee ma\u00dfgeblich beeinflussen. Bei der Ausgabe des Kaffees in der Mensa wird zudem\u00a0 auf Einwegbecher verzichtet und stattdessen allein auf Tassen mit hoher Nutzungsdauer zur\u00fcckgegriffen. Hierf\u00fcr wurde ein sorgf\u00e4ltig gepr\u00fcftes Projekt auf den Philippinen ausgew\u00e4hlt und unterst\u00fctzt. Das Burgos Wind Project erm\u00f6glicht die Versorgung mit erneuerbarer Energie, die ohne die Kompensationsgelder nicht zur Verf\u00fcgung gestellt, betrieben und gewartet werden k\u00f6nnten. Die technische Umsetzung dieses Kompensationsprojektes erfolgte durch den Aufbau und die Unterhaltung von 50 Windkraftanlagen mit 3 MW Nennleistung je Anlage. Mit der Beteiligung an dem Projekt entstehen neben der globalen Einsparung von treibhausgas\u00e4quivalenten Emissionen noch eine Vielzahl weitere Vorteile. Diese sind unter anderem die Einbindung der lokalen Regierungen und Gemeinden zur Sensibilisierung f\u00fcr Umweltschutz, die Schaffung einer Vielzahl neuer Arbeitspl\u00e4tzte und der mit dem Projekt einhergehende der Technologie- und Wissenstransfer f\u00fcr die Erzeugung von Energie aus erneuerbaren Quellen.\u00a0<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Indem die zu verantwortenden Treibhausgasemissionen der Produkte \u00fcber den gesamten Lebenszyklus erfasst und ausgeglichen wurden, d\u00fcrfen der greenes\u00b2 Coffee Roast und Espresso des Studierendenwerks Mannheim f\u00fcr den G\u00fcltigkeitszeitraum 31.12.2022 \u2013 31.12.2023 \u201eklimaneutral\u201c genannt werden. Der Beitrag zur Einsparung treibhausgas\u00e4quivalenten Emissionen betr\u00e4gt 16 kg CO<sub>2<\/sub>e f\u00fcr den Coffee Roast und 11 kg CO<sub>2<\/sub>e f\u00fcr den Espresso.
